How does the Viora REACTION™ work?

As we age, the ability to produce collagen slows resulting in wrinkles and sagging skin. The Viora REACTION™ stimulates collagen production so that you can attain some of the youth lost to aging. Skin Tightening

REACTION™’s skin tightening treatments balance the demands of frequency, intensity and an integrated skin cooling system to ensure the safest and most effective result. Thinner, more sensitive periorbital and forehead areas are treated using a higher frequency with minimal patient discomfort, while thicker regions such as the cheeks, abdomen and back are treated with lower or multi-channel modes.

REACTION™ instantly contracts tissue fibers for immediate smoothing and tightening results. At the same time, it thermally induces natural neocollagenesis for full wrinkle reductions. For skin tightening on the face and body, 4-8 treatments scheduled 2-3 weeks apart are recommended, depending on the level of correction needed. One maintenance treatment is recommended 4-6 months after completion of the treatment plan.

What are the benefits of the Viora REACTION™?

The skin is made up of three distinct layers: a visible outer layer on the surface called the epidermis, a collagen-rich second layer beneath the surface called the dermis, and a third inner layer beneath the dermis called the subcutaneous layer, also known as the fat layer, containing a web of collagen fibers running through it. When the collagen in these three layers breaks down due to sun exposure, family heredity and the normal aging process, your face begins to sag and wrinkle. Naturally, treatments that work on just the surface do not restore the collagen in the dermis or the inner layer of your skin. The Viora will aggressively encourage the production of new collagen growth as well as tighten existing collagen webs within the dermis to provide tighter, younger-feeling and looking skin. Everyone who has a Viora procedure will achieve healthier collagen.

What is a typical procedure like?

Comfortably performed in our office, the Viora has little or no downtime. Treatment time will vary depending on the part of the face or body being treated and the size of the area. During treatment for the face, a brief pulse of thermal heat will be delivered. The face typically requires 4-6 passes of radiofrequency (RF) energy. 

The tip of the handpiece has a cooling sensation while in contact with the skin. The tip cools and protects the epidermis while the energy penetrates deep into the skin to heat collagen fibers in the dermis and subcutaneous tissue. During body treatments, the pulse of thermal heat will be delivered while the handpiece serves as a vacuum to increase the depth of the heat and to help move tryglycerides and fatty acids out of the fat cells to the lymph system.

Cellulite and Circumferential Reduction

Heating of subcutaneous tissue layers builds collagen fibers that strengthen the dermis against the invasion of adipocytes and stimulates lipolysis to shrink fat cell volume, at the same time enhancing blood circulation throughout the treatment area.

REACTION™’s 4th dimension, multi-channel mode creates a stronger, more accurately distributed thermal response. Combining multiple frequencies with vacuum therapy further intensifies treatment and facilitates deeper tissue penetration allowing for effective cellulite treatment, circumferential reduction, and skin tightening at the same time.

For cellulite and circumferential reduction, 8 treatments are needed, scheduled one week apart. One maintenance treatment is recommended every 4-6 months after completion of the treatment plan.

Is the treatment painful?

When the Viora energy is applied, you will feel a deep but brief heating sensation, which is an indication that collagen is reaching effective temperatures for tightening. During the Viora body contouring procedures, the heat will be accompanied by a vacuum, which will be adjusted to your comfort level. To protect the surface of your skin, the tip of the handpiece contains a cooling device. Either a gel (for the face) or a glycerin oil (for the body) is applied during treatment to help keep the surface of your skin cool. During your procedure you will be asked for feedback on the level of heat sensation experienced during the procedure to help balance your comfort with maximum results. Heat is absolutely essential to tighten the collagen and stimulate new collagen growth.

What are the common side effects?

The Viora is not suitable for patients with pacemakers, internal defibrillators, or other implanted electrical devices. It is also not recommended for patients who are pregnant or who suffer from an auto-immune disease. During the treatment a deep heating sensation will be noticeable and is an indication that the treatment is stimulating your own collagen production. Common side effects include swelling, reddening and bruising. Reddening (if any) typically subsides within a few hours after the treatment. Swelling typically goes down within a day but can last 3-5 days for some patients. Bruising may occur as a result of the vacuum during the procedure, and usually subsides within a few days. Degrees of swelling, reddening and bruising vary from person to person. A complete list of potential side effects is available during your consultation.

How long before I notice results?

The effect is natural. At first, you may be the only one to notice the change. Your family and friends may remark that you look rested or ask if you have lost weight. Some patients will notice subtle tightening immediately post-procedure but more noticeable results will be evident 2 months after the treatment. One maintenance treatment is recommended every 4-6 months after completion of the treatment plan.
